Some Insight to What's Going On

“I am intrigued by the mystery,” read the bumper sticker I recently saw, superimposed over an illustration of a spiral galaxy. Mystery seems to be at the heart of my drive, the meaning of the work, and the response in the viewer. And it took a bumper sticker to sum it up for me.

An Overview

Greetings Folks,

I'm a hobby painter it seems. I come home from my jobs and paint when I can upstairs in the attic. It's good practice.

An underlying aspect to all things in life is the creative process. We respond to stimuli nearly every moment of the day, and with each occurrence are provided an opportunity to create a memorable moment, a unique experience, a creative act. Through creating art, I apply this process and hone my skills of creativity, to be applied to later work and everyday life.

This is the first in a new series, 'ritual/habit', in which I use cigarette ash on a background of 'silver' pull tabs from cigarette packs. There's more in the works.

This is a commissioned piece I did in 2008 incorporating the Wall Street Journal and the S&P index for 2007.

Below you will find selections of my recent and past work, organized by date of completion, which corresponds relatively well to a style of work in and of itself. New work is added every few weeks when it is completed. Unless noted otherwise, all work is for sale. Please inquire for prices.

The Process Pieces

The following group of paintings I have titled 'The Process Pieces'. I have used these paintings as a means to exercise the creative process as it applies to harmonious color schemes and compositions. Typically, I produce these pieces in between working on abstract paintings as a way to "keep the ball rolling". They are oil on panel and oak board.
